Thompson Pledges to Drive Away the Cold
The Thompson Organization is proud to participate in the 2017 Driving Away the Cold effort! As a participating dealer in this program, we will be donating a brand new winter coat to a local child in need each time a vehicle is sold at our store during the month of September.

Driving Away the Cold is a philanthropic program started in January of 2008 by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation, of which we are a member. The program has one simple but very important mission: to provide new winter coats to underprivileged children living in the five-county region of Philadelphia.

Toyota Tops Auto Industry for IIHS Safety Awards
For the third year in a row, Toyota has topped the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) annual list of safety awards. Twelve Toyota vehicles won IIHS awards in 2017, with nine receiving its highest award, the TOP SAFETY PICK+, the most of any manufacturer.

"At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers," said Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota's North American Chief Quality Officer. "We are proud that our commitment to developing safe and reliable vehicles resulted in such a strong showing in 2017 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards".

According to IIHS, automakers were required to meet tougher criteria to be considered for the top 2017 awards, including headlight evaluations launched in 2016. Among this year's TOP SAFETY PICK+ recipients, the IIHS recognized the updated Toyota Corolla for improved small overlap crash protection and front crash prevention, as well as the Toyota Prius for its improved headlights.

To receive a TOP SAFETY PICK AWARD, vehicles were required to achieve good ratings in five crashworthiness tests, have an available front crash prevention system and have quality headlights. TOP SAFETY PICK+ award winners must also have a superior- or advanced-rated front crash prevention system with automatic braking capabilities.

- 2017 Toyota TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners: Toyota Prius (built after August 2016), Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius v, and Toyota RAV4.

- 2017 Toyota TOP SAFETY PICK winners: Toyota Yaris iA and Toyota Avalon.

Jack Thompson Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

On January 26, 2009, The American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) today honored longtime member and past director John H. (Jack) Thompson of Doylestown, PA with the David F. Mungenast, Sr. Lifetime Achievement Award. The award, named after the late AIADA Chairman and legendary St. Louis-area automobile dealer, was presented during AIADA's 39th Annual Meeting and Luncheon held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

"This year's award winner has claimed the respect of dealers and industry employees in all corners of the country," said AIADA President Cody Lusk. "Jack is remarkable not just for his unwavering commitment to protecting the livelihoods of international auto dealers, but also for his strength as a leader and reputation for generosity."

Thompson was one of the first Toyota dealers in the United States, opening for business in 1969. In 1989 he once again blazed a trail as one of the country's first Lexus dealers. He credits his success, and correspondingly high customer satisfaction and retention scores, to the philosophy that he is not in the car business, but the people business. In 1997 He won the Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year award and in 1998 the Sports Illustrated Dealer of Distinction.

Thompson's love of cars extends past the office. Over the years he has accumulated one of the largest vintage car collections in the country, focused primarily on vintage race cars and European models. Jack is a member of the Sport Car Club of America and has served as that organization's chief executive steward. Active in his community, Thompson has also served as a board member of the land preservation group Heritage Conservancy, the title sponsor of the Doylestown Arts Festival, and as a host of the annual Susan G. Komen Drive for the Cure.

Today, Thompson owns and operates six dealerships in both Doylestown and Warrington, PA: Thompson Toyota, Thompson Lexus, and Thompson BMW in Doylestown and Porsche of Bucks County, Audi Warrington and Thompson Volkswagen in Warrington. He has been a member of AIADA since 1975.
